Before setting all of our New Year’s resolutions, how about taking a moment to reflect on the present moment? Think about this past year: what you’ve accomplished, what challenges you’ve dealt with, what decisions you’ve made, and what you have created. Write them down, breathe them in, and acknowledge all that you’ve done. Read More
Everyone knows the old Welsh proverb that goes “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”. What many people may not realize is that there is a surprising amount of truth in these wise words. Along with the banana, apples are one of the most commonly eaten fruits in the world. Studies show that they can potentially be amazing for your skin as well as offering anti-viral and anti-cancer properties.
As Nourish Your Soul expands its reach and grows its community in Boston, we got to thinking about our mission as we take those steps forward. Our philosophy hasn’t changed since we first opened, but it seems like a great time to explain more of it, explain more about why we believe it, and share it with you.
Our Soul Series continues, spotlighting some of the vital and influential local voices in our community helping us connect our physical movement with inner strength.
In this post we focus on Molly Powers, who works as a medium, a Reiki Master, and also as a yoga instructor in her business, Powers of Healing. We sat down with her to find out more.
This time of year can be a joyful one, but also one filled with grief–the kind we have as individuals and that we share as families. The healing process only gets underway when we address that grief. So I thought I would share my story in hopes that it can help all of us to add to that healing.
I used to live what most people would consider an ideal life. I had a loving and handsome husband, three beautiful daughters, and a lucrative and fulfilling career. We lived in a beautiful house, went on many family vacations each year, and generally felt blessed and happy. But everything changed within moments of waking up one haunting morning 10 years ago.
“People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.” – Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
Like Kubler-Ross, we know that radiant, glowing skin is more than surface-deep. It’s about what we put into your body, what we do to reduce stress and find inner calm, and how we choose to spend our time. So here are six sustainable actions you can incorporate into your daily routine to achieve radiant skin. If you have more tips or ideas, please shoot me an email and let me know!
We hope you enjoy every bite of your thanksgiving feast and breath in gratitude for all the magic that happens over the holidays. It’s all about balance. Remember, it is one day!
We will be ready for you to get yourself back on track to healthy, smart eating between the holidays, in this hurried season. Add in a nutrition-packed green juice or a cleanse that balances out those heavier meals that are sure to happen in the next few months, and you’ll be all set to dive into the merriment and the New Year.
And here’s the very best boost to do that:Friday and throughout the weekend, we’re giving you 20% off as a Black Friday Rebirth Deal. Buy now online with promo code detox20 or in person tomorrow at our stores.
The holidays have officially kicked into full gear… and with them, so has that annually familiar push-and-pull, yin-and-yang conflict we often have with ourselves this time of year.
In short, it’s this: How do you enjoy the festive indulgences of the season (Hello, cornbread stuffing and eggnog martinis!), while still staying healthy and keep from going off the rails?
Adding green juice to your diet is the best way to increase your life force energy. When we juice fruits and vegetables, we separate out the fiber, leaving the liquid that contains live enzymes, chlorophyll, vitamins, and minerals. Removing the fiber allows the nutrients to be released immediately into your cells and bloodstream in a form that’s easy to assimilate.
Honestly, who doesn’t want a bowl of warm, creamy pumpkin soup this time of year? (Especially coming off of Halloween, when there are still so many pumpkins hanging around?) The great news here is that you don’t have to abandon your determination to avoid dairy and eat light in order to enjoy this classic fall treat; in this vegan recipe, unsweetened coconut milk keeps things both flavorful and light.
Yes, yes. We know it sounds pretty counterintuitive at first. But bear with us for a moment on this, and we’ll explain. Activated charcoal is actually one of the healthiest, most physically helpful substances you can welcome into your body.
So you just got through Halloween, and chances are good that your sugar consumption is at an all-time high. Thankfully, we’re here to help you get back on track.
As we head into the holiday season, don’t wait until January 1st to commit to making good choices. Make this holiday season a juicy one! Drinking green juice resets your body, helping you release old habits and make new ones.
So now it’s out there. Even if you’re a hard-core meat lover, you can’t ignore the latest findings about how too much meat can be cancer-causing.
So here’s where I have some incredibly good news: In between all of those epic upcoming holiday meals (whether you do them with or without meat) that are in front of us, there are also plenty of other lunches, breakfasts, and dinners that we can use to reasonably balance out those other heavy holiday meals.
Turmeric: A seriously powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant to write home about.
Eggs: Arguably nature’s most perfect food.
So given that, what if you could introduce the two of them under the most delicious of circumstances? That’s what we’ve done. I’d like you to meet them both, in our new breakfast powerhouse dish. Eat it once or twice a week, and then get ready for your physical health to change. Read on.
Did you know that during your cleanse we also provide you with not just the key juices, but also an a.m. water and a p.m. water?
We do that for a handful of very important reasons. The biggest benefit of any cleanse is that it moves toxins through the body. Without proper hydration, that can’t happen, and toxins may instead even re-accumulate in your system, causing more harm than good. While cleansing, make sure to drink half your weight in ounces of filtered water daily to ensure safety and effectiveness.
Why drink lemon water in a.m. hours? If you do one thing during and after your cleanse, this should be it. It’s the ritual that can most improve your health. And it’s best first thing in morning, and at room temperature. Its huge benefits include:
We’re kicking off our Grand Opening at Healthworks in Back Bay with brand new cleanses to encourage a brand new path of your healthiest fall living!

Our fantastic two new cleanses include…
As the chillier weather sets in, we naturally start craving warm, comforting foods …some of which aren’t as healthy for our bodies as they could be. Well, here’s one that is. Not only is it enormously satisfying, it uses unsweetened coconut milk instead of the unusual milk or cream, which keeps things light. The whole thing takes less than 30 minutes to make, and can be done days ahead of time so when you need a simple meal, just open the fridge and reheat.
It’s also a great meal for transitioning out of a cleanse back to your regular eatings habits.
We consider it a triple threat: easy to make, good for you, and downright delicious. Enjoy!
Nourish Your Soul has always been about fresh starts, and so I couldn’t be more excited to announce one of our own: a third location upstairs at Healthworks Back Bay, at 441 Stuart Street, in Copley Square, Boston! The location will be completely open to the public, so you don’t have to be a Healthworks member to come by.
Blueberries do a body good! This little fruit softens dry skin, boosts your brain, and may even prevent cancer. In fact, they could just be the king of antioxidant foods; they protect our bodies from damage by free radicals–unstable molecules that can damage cellular structures and contribute to aging and diseases. And they do way more, too….
When we think of dandelion greens, most of us picture a pesky summertime weed on our lawn. And yes, they certainly are that. But did you know they’re also a nutritional powerhouse—and a tasty one, at that?
Dandelion greens are a natural healer, with detoxing properties and loads of nutrients that are known for detoxifying the liver, acting as a diuretic for the body, promoting radiant skin, diminishing bloating, and helping bone health and weight loss.
What a mighty ally the cucumber is! They hydrate us, replenish us with vitamins and minerals while helping eliminate toxins. They’re loaded up with anti-oxidants, and have anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer benefits. What’s more, they aid in weight loss, digestion, reduce cholesterol, and help control blood pressure. Now that’s a power veggie.
The bees are back! Warm weather has them about to buzz back into action, which means we get to reap the benefits of their pollen—a powerhouse of health-rich elements for our bodies and brains. At Nourish Your Soul, we offer it as an add-on to any smoothie.
For starters, it contains up to 40% high-quality protein (more than any animal product) and all of the essential amino acids, making it an excellent food for nourishing the brain and building strength.
