Superfood: Cashews

By

One of the most delicious nuts out there, cashews also come with a big bonus: They’re extraordinarily good for you!

For starters, they contain zinc, which helps with collagen production. They’re also high in essential vitamins and minerals, are loaded with potent antioxidants, and are a solid source of copper, manganese, magnesium, and fiber.

They’re a good fat for heart health; they contain oleic acid, an essential fatty acid that inhibits cholesterol from getting into your bloodstream. Plus they’re rich in linoleic acid—an element that actively lowers your blood pressure and has antioxidant properties that defend your blood vessels from free radicals.

The aforementioned magnesium in cashews helps with muscle and nerve response. In their raw form, cashews have 82.5 milligrams of magnesium per ounce (21 % of the daily recommended amount), which protects against high blood pressure, muscle spasms, migraine headaches, tension, soreness, and fatigue. Pretty powerful, eh? Oh, and magnesium also works with calcium to support healthy muscles and bones in the human body.

To keep your liver and brain healthy, there’s all of the copper that cashews contain. That helps the body use iron, eliminate free radicals, develop bone and connective tissue, and produce melanin, that important skin and hair pigment. And for fighting off infection, cashews’ high zinc concentration boasts plenty of powerful antibacterial and antifungal properties.

The tasty nuts make a great post workout treat. Or sip a refreshing Cashew Milk—a far-better alternative to a processed protein beverage. Or grab our Vanilla Coffee, which is a delicious combination of our cashew milk and cold brew coffee. There’s also our newest creation, Matcha Milk, a blend of matcha tea and cashew milk.
